Jean Walcher - President

Jean Walcher has more than 20 years of experience in the public relations and marketing field. Her experience encompasses stints on both the agency and client side with large and small advertising and public relations agencies in San Diego and New York City. She also spent seven years working in Los Angeles in feature film and TV production and development.

Prior to launching J.Walcher Communications in 2001, she was Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations for the American Council on Exercise, an international nonprofit organization committed to the promotion of safe and effective physical activity. After building a marketing team of seven, Jean was responsible for managing all marketing, public relations and online activities and developing programs, plans, and promotions to raise the organization’s visibility.

Jean spent three years with Capener, Matthews & Walcher (now Matthews/Evans/Albertazzi), a full-service advertising and PR agency. In New York, she worked for Ruder, Finn & Rotman overseeing the firm’s subcontracts with its “Field Network” – a group of independent PR agencies across the country. Later, she was an account executive with Lapin East/West, a PR agency specializing in sports accounts including Top Rank Entertainment, The Sporting Club Restaurant and numerous sports celebrities.

Jean has won awards from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) for her public relations and special event work on behalf of the American Council on Exercise, Studio Diner and Priority Pharmacy. She has been a presenter for a PRSA seminar on special events and was most recently honored by the San Diego Business Journal as a “Women Who Mean Business” 2009 award recipient.

Her charitable activities include Autism Research Institute, Design Innovation Institute, the National Conflict Resolution Center and United Way. She currently sits on the advisory board for the Lux Art Institute.
