JWC Hires Team Member, Promotes Two Others

Jenna-Brossman-214x300Big changes are happening at JWC! The firm recently expanded its team with the addition of Jenna Brossman as account executive, and promoted Sandy Young to account supervisor and Ashley Shafer to assistant account executive.

Brossman will assist the firm’s diverse local and national clients in meeting their goals by providing public relations support through media relations, community outreach and social media, with tailored strategies and tactics.

Prior to joining the JWC team, Jenna was an account executive at Cook + Schmid, where her clients included the city of Santa Monica, North County Transit District, and San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency. Brossman managed multiple large-scale events, developed comprehensive behavior-change campaigns and conducted extensive outreach to various stakeholders, including the media, community leaders and members.

Previously, Brossman worked at the historic Hotel del Coronado, where she assisted with various marketing initiatives, including managing events, photo shoots, media tours and direct mail campaigns.

Brossman graduated magna cum laude, earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism with an emphasis in public relations from San Diego State University.

A member of the JWC team since 2009, Sandy Young was recently promoted to account supervisor. Since joining the firm, Young has managed multiple accounts, utilizing her areas of expertise – including writing/editing, media relationship building and social media – for the benefit of clients and the company.

Young has also served as a freelance writer for media outlets, including La Jolla Patch, EatSD and 944 Magazine, as well as a columnist for SanDiegoBargainMama.com and regular contributor to the SoCal PR Blog.

Currently, Young serves as secretary on the board of directors for the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter, as well as on the programming committee for the 2014 PRSA Western District Conference.

Ashley Shafer, a JWC team member since 2012, has been promoted to assistant account executive. Shafer assists with the management and coordination of public and community relations and social media strategies for a variety of local, regional and national accounts.

Shafer has a background in writing and journalism, as well as strong public relations experience garnered from five internships, where she worked with clients in the entertainment, arts, lifestyle and hospitality industries.
