JWC Receives Three Edward L. Bernays Awards

J. Walcher Communications (JWC), a top San Diego public relations agency, has received three Edward L. Bernays Mark of Excellence Awards from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter.

“There’s nothing better than being recognized by our fellow public relations peers for our work and results,” said President Jean Walcher. “The projects recognized demonstrate the diversity of our work and commitment to every client.”

The award-winning campaigns were:

  • Silver Bernays Award Mark of Merit for “Events & Observances”: Anza-Borrego Foundation 50th Anniversary Media Campaign  

Anza-Borrego Foundation (ABF) is the nonprofit partner of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Celebrating its 50th anniversary through the 2016-17 desert season, ABF hired JWC to secure media coverage throughout Southern California about the anniversary and the Park’s attractions and special events.

  • Bronze Bernays Award Mark of Excellence for “Editorial/Op-Ed Columns”: International Council on Systems Engineering Space Weather Op-Ed

JWC wrote, pitched and coordinated an op-ed in Engineering News-Record about space weather events and the importance of systems engineering to avoid catastrophic results.

  • Bronze Bernays Award Mark of Merit for “Press Conferences”: Circulate San Diego’s “The Fatal Fifteen” Press Conference

Circulate San Diego’s press conference for “The Fatal Fifteen,” a campaign calling for the City to fix the 15 deadliest intersections, resulted in a front page story in The San Diego Union-Tribune, as well as lead stories on every TV station, many with multiple reporters and stories, for 66 broadcast hits total and coverage in several other prominent media outlets.

This year’s Bernays Awards were judged by members from the West Michigan Chapter of PRSA.
