We won! J. Walcher Communications has received an Edward L. Bernays Mark of Excellence Award from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter in the “Social Media” category for client Bali Hai Restaurant.

PRSA SD/IC’s annual awards program recognizes the industry’s best public relations tactics, campaigns and professionals in categories including social media, media relations, community relations, crisis communications and special events.

The JWC team received a Bronze Mark of Excellence Award, the top prize in the category, for their work on Bali Hai Restaurant’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. Judges cited JWC’s implementation of “creative ways to get followers and fans to interact on social media” as a primary reason for their victory.

The award-winning social media campaign began with Bali Hai’s $4 million renovation in 2010. Along with engaging and spirited content, JWC has created social media contests and worked with Bali Hai to respond to customer needs. Since creating the social media accounts, JWC has built Bali Hai’s Facebook “likes” to over 4,000, with over 1,800 followers on Twitter.

Bali Hai’s owners have since connected with JWC to handle social media for its sister restaurant, Tom Ham’s Lighthouse.

This year’s Bernays Awards were judged by senior-level and APR-certified professionals from the PRSA Las Vegas Valley Chapter. Entries were judged on an 80-point scale and required at least 50 points to win.
