J. Walcher Communications is seeking a creative and enthusiastic individual to work part-time as a public relations assistant (20 hours per week for a three month contract).
We’re a boutique agency specializing in local, regional/national public relations and strategic communication campaigns, and work in a wide range of industries including hospitality, nonprofits and associations, real estate, consumer products, professional services, sports/entertainment and more.
Scope of Work
The PR assistant will be involved in all aspects of the agency including media relations and research, writing, social media, event coordination, project management and client and product research for a variety of businesses. PR assistants gain a practical understanding of the public relations and marketing industry as well as how to develop the tools necessary to compete and excel in this exciting and growing field.
Specific responsibilities include PR writing, project management, research, database management, maintaining media lists and client clip files, proofreading, developing social media content, preparing presentation materials, as well as administrative support which may include phones, word processing, filing, copying/scanning and mail distribution.
- College graduate with bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications or related discipline.
- Previous internship or agency experience required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; knowledge of AP Style.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and internet experience necessary. Adobe Photoshop and Cision media database knowledge a plus.
