J. Walcher Communications (JWC) is seeking a creative and enthusiastic individual to work as a full-time account coordinator (40 hours per week for a three-month contract). The position has high potential to turn into a full-time, salaried position post-contract for the right candidate.
We’re a boutique agency with a 17-year history of specializing in local, regional/national public relations and strategic communication campaigns, and work in a wide range of industries including nonprofits and associations, real estate, hospitality, professional services, consumer products, sports/entertainment and more.
Scope of Work
The account coordinator will be involved in all aspects of the agency including media relations and research, writing, social media, event coordination, project management, and client and product research for a variety of businesses.
We are seeking a strong, strategic and creative writer who can tackle a variety of subjects. The ideal candidate is passionate about the news and knowledgeable about what’s going on in the world; someone who takes his/her work very seriously, can juggle multiple projects and deadlines, and has a good dose of humor.
Specific responsibilities include PR writing, media relations and pitching, project management, research, database management, maintaining media lists and client clip files, proofreading, developing social media content, preparing presentation materials, as well as administrative support which may include phones and general office tasks.
- College graduate with bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications or related discipline.
- Previous internship or agency experience required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; knowledge of AP Style
- Some media relations experience is ideal
- Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook experience necessary. Adobe Photoshop and Cision media database knowledge a plus.
