Mariah Hugo Almasco, Account Executive
Mariah Hugo Almasco is an account executive at JWC, applying her skills in public relations and event planning to generate engagement and support for the agency’s nonprofit and community-focused clients. Through media relations, in-person outreach, events and social media campaigns, she helps organizations connect with their communities and the media. She loves bringing stories to life and highlighting the essential work that clients provide for their stakeholders.
Before joining JWC, she worked in public outreach for San Diego’s major infrastructure projects, including Pure Water San Diego, San Diego International Airport’s New Terminal 1 and the Mid-Coast Extension of the UC San Diego Blue Line Trolley. She started her career with public relations internships in esports, gaming, hospitality and tourism.
Mariah served the local PRSA San Diego/Imperial Counties as an associate board member, building up the mentorship program in its first hybrid format through the COVID-19 pandemic. She was honored to receive the chapter’s “New PR Pro of the Year” award in 2021 and looks for new ways to support students and young professionals entering their public relations careers.
Mariah earned her degree in public relations and a minor in leadership from San Diego State University. She also became an inaugural Broom Student Fellow in the Glen M. Broom Center for Professional Development in Public Relations. Mariah has lived adventurously and studied abroad in Bangkok, Thailand, which introduced her to new, culturally competent approaches in communications and building relationships.
