JWC Brightens Local Arts and Culture with Two New Appointments

J. Walcher Communications (JWC), a top San Diego public relations and marketing agency, celebrated Founder Jean Walcher’s appointment to the San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture and Account Supervisor Olivia Stafford’s election to the Art FORM board.
“Jean and Olivia’s passion for creativity and community doesn’t just show up in their client work – it drives them to give back in meaningful ways,” said Sandy Young, CEO of JWC.
Mayor Todd Gloria appointed Walcher, which was confirmed by the San Diego City Council. The commission manages the City of San Diego’s arts, culture and creative industries.
The San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture’s mission is to create a more inclusive and equitable creative economy that reflects the cultural diversity of the San Diego region. Walcher will work to garner support for San Diego’s artistic and cultural assets, as well as integrate arts and culture into the San Diego community. The Commission also helps showcase San Diego as a premier tourist destination.
Walcher has a lifelong appreciation for the arts. She was appointed due to her extensive involvement with the San Diego arts and culture scene, representing clients such as Comic-Con Museum, Lux Art Institute (now Institute of Contemporary Art San Diego), Bazaar del Mundo Restaurant Group and Shops and the San Diego International Film Festival. In the past several years, she has worked with Art, Power, Equity, opening up the agency’s historic Mills Act Victorian office to underrepresented artists for solo exhibitions. Previous artists include Katie Ruiz, textile producer and painter.
Stafford started volunteering with Art FORM in January 2025, when she began working with the organization to maximize community outreach and inspire eco-friendly art activities.
Art FORM encourages art education and environmental stewardship for Mid-City San Diego students. The nonprofit organization hosts art workshops for over 500 students within San Diego County and engages more than 1,500 additional community members through special events and partnerships.
Stafford has donated her time to over 30 nonprofit organizations. She recently celebrated six years of working with JWC, where she leads media relations and more for the Comic-Con Museum, the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation and other longtime JWC clients. She is a member of the American Marketing Association, San Diego chapter, and received San Diego Metro’s 2025 40 Under 40 Award, as well as a the San Diego’s 2025 Women of Influence Award.
